Kuching The City...Not The Cat !!!

 

I reckon Kuching is a very tourist friendly city. The indigenous of Sarawak are very humble and down to earth people. They are so friendly and so willing to help. Much to the fact that when you are comparing to those from metropolitan like KL. 

  

Kuching does have a lovely waterfront to kill your time. Especially when i want my trip to be as laid back as possible. An effortless long walk along the waterfront when the sun falls had indeed chill out my wounded soul.

  

Perhaps you might want to do it a little tourist, you can hire a "sampang" to take you across the Kuching river.

  

Where you can see the Dewan Undangan Negeri. A landmark not be missed standing in Kuching tourism zone. 

  

Or you can visit Fort Margheritta. A defense line built by Charles Brown, the white Rajah.

  

The Carpenter street is the hub of the Chinese in Kuching during the early days. I find it very similar to any other china town such as the one in Penang and Melaka. The Carpenter street is the home of some very decent food as well as Backpacker Guesthouse.

  

The guesthouse /hostel business has been very competitive with rental goes as low as RM16 per night in the dorm. MrD bed & breakfast is one of those backpacker's heaven situated in the center of Carpenter street. 

  

The keeper of the guesthouse are friendly enough to make you feel "home away from home". I was given the honour to write my thought in one of the corner. 

  

The magnificent view of Dewan Undangan Negeri during the night. Only to realize that I'm surrounded by love birds along the waterfront park.

  

 Everyone know that Kolo Mee is the not-to-be-missed in Kuching. However, your mission will never be accomplished without a bowl of kolo mee served in this good old traditional "chicken bowl".

  

Sarawak joined Malaya, Singapore and sabah to form the Federation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963. The Prime Minister's administration had finally announced 16 Sep to be a public holiday in the whole Malaysia starting from 2010. Another step towards the milestone of 1 Malaysia.
